Lab Grown Diamond FAQs
1. What are Lab Grown Diamonds?
Lab Grown Diamonds are diamonds created in controlled laboratory environments using cutting-edge technology that mimics the earth’s natural diamond-forming process. They have the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as mined diamonds, offering identical brilliance, hardness, and sparkle.
2. What is the difference between a Lab Grown Diamond and a Mined Diamond?
The only real difference is origin. Mined diamonds are formed underground over billions of years, while lab grown diamonds are created above ground in just a few weeks. Both are made of pure carbon, have the same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), and are graded using the same standards.
Visually, there is no difference between a lab grown and a mined diamond. Even trained gemologists cannot distinguish between the two without specialised equipment.
3. Are Lab Grown Diamonds real?
Yes! Lab Grown Diamonds are 100% real. They are not imitations like cubic zirconia or moissanite. They are chemically and structurally the same as natural diamonds and just as brilliant.
4. Are lab-grown diamonds sustainable?
Yes. Lab Grown Diamonds are a more environmentally responsible choice. By eliminating the need for mining, they significantly reduce the environmental and ethical impact traditionally associated with diamond sourcing.
5. Why are they more affordable?
Lab Grown Diamonds cost significantly less than mined diamonds of comparable quality because they skip the expensive mining process and lengthy supply chains. This means you can enjoy higher-quality diamonds at more accessible prices.
6. How are they certified?
All JW Diamonds are independently certified by internationally recognised gemological laboratories, including the International Gemological Institute (IGI) and the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). These certificates detail the diamond’s 4Cs – Cut, Colour, Clarity, and Carat – giving you confidence in the quality and authenticity of your Lab Grown Diamond.
Shipping + My Order
1. How long does my order take to be prepared and delivered?
JW Diamonds offers a mix of ready-to-ship and made-to-order jewellery.
Ready-to-ship pieces such as earrings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets and selected rings are dispatched shortly after your order is placed and typically delivered within 1-7 business days, depending on your location.
Made-to-order pieces are carefully crafted following your order and generally take approximately 3 weeks to prepare, followed by delivery within 1-7 business days.
If you are unsure whether a piece is ready to ship or made to order, our team is always happy to assist – please reach out via email or the get in touch form.
2. Ordering for a special date or event
If you are purchasing for a specific date or occasion, we recommend placing your order at least 2 weeks earlier than the standard timeline to allow for any unexpected delays.
If you require your order urgently, please contact our team and we will be happy to assist.
3. What is the shipping fee?
We offer free shipping across Australia on all orders.
All parcels are shipped securely via Australia Post Platinum Signature, include tracking, and require a signature on delivery.

If you wish to make changes or cancel your order, please contact us via email or get in touch form within 12 hours of placing it. Once production has started, we may not be able to make updates, especially for custom or engraved pieces. But we will always do our best to assist.
6. Where do you ship?
We currently ship Australia-wide.
All orders are securely sent via Australia Post Platinum Signature, with signature required on delivery for added security.
Product Care
1. How do I take care of my jewellery?
While Lab Grown Diamonds are durable, proper care helps preserve their brilliance and finish over time. For helpful tips, please visit our detailed Jewellery Care page.
JW Diamonds offers one complimentary professional cleaning service for each piece purchased. After this initial service, any additional cleaning or polishing will incur a small fee. 2. What type of warranty do I receive?
All JW Diamonds pieces come with a 2 year warranty that covers manufacturing defects. Please note, this does not cover damage caused by wear and tear, accidents, or unauthorised repairs. For more details on what is covered and how to make a claim, please visit our Warranty Page.
3. How do I check my ring size?
We want your ring to fit perfectly! You can refer to our Sizing Guide on the product page or book an appointment for personalised sizing support.
We highly recommend getting in touch with us before placing your order – our team is happy to guide you through the process and help minimize any sizing issues from the start.
Returns + Replacement
1. What is your returns and replacement policy?
At JW Diamonds, each piece is crafted with care and precision. We do not accept returns for a change of mind. However, if your item arrives faulty or incorrect, we will work with you to resolve the issue. Please notify us within 12 hours of delivery, including clear photos and your order number, so our team can review the matter.
Each case is assessed individually, and we will discuss the available options with you before finalising the most appropriate resolution. Depending on the circumstances, this may include a repair or store credit. For eligibility criteria and full terms, please refer to our Returns & Replacements page.
2. I received my package but my pieces were damaged, what do I do?
We are so sorry to hear that! If your jewellery arrives damaged, please email us within 48 hours of delivery, including your order number and clear photos of the damage. We will review the issue and organise a prompt replacement or repair. To check if your item qualifies, visit our Returns & Replacements page.
3. If I order the wrong size by mistake, can I get it resized?
Yes! The first resize is on us, provided the request is made within the warranty period. Reach out to us on sales@jwdiamonds.com.au. One of our experts will help you out regarding the return pickup of your ring & also provide help with identifying your true ring size.
Please note:
- One complimentary resize is included per item.
- Any additional resizing requests may incur a nominal fee.
- Complimentary resizing is subject to design limitations and availability.

Payment
1. What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major payment methods, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
We offer Afterpay at checkout, so you can shop now and pay later in four easy, interest-free installments.
Bank transfer (Electronic Funds Transfer – EFT) is available for all orders. If you select Bank Transfer at checkout, our bank details will be displayed on the Order Received page and included in your order confirmation email. Once payment has been received and processed, your order will be confirmed and prepared for dispatch.
